‘The Other Bennet Sister’s' Christmas Special Looks Festive
The three-part festive miniseries already looks adorable.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! (Well, almost.) BritBox has released our first look at The Other Bennet Sister’s three-part Christmas special. While the image gives absolutely nothing away about what the forthcoming episodes might be about, it’s so adorable that no one will care.
Based on the novel of the same name, the series’ critically acclaimed first season finally put the spotlight on Mary Bennet (Ella Bruccoleri), the often-overlooked middle sister from Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. Over its ten episodes, we watch Mary find her happily ever after with Dónal Finn’s (Young Sherlock) sweetly dorky Tom Hayward, but only after she learns to be happy with herself.
The series delivered record-breaking results for BritBox, driving more new subscribers than any previous launch and achieving the highest streaming rate of any launch on the service. It makes complete sense that the streamer would want to return to this fictional universe, and it’s unlikely any viewer will complain about the chance to spend more time with the Haywards.
What the festive special will be about remains a mystery. However, it seems safe to assume The Other Bennet Sister will tackle what happens after happily ever after with the same deft touch it applied to Mary’s and Tom’s romance.

Here’s the special’s (super basic) description.
The tenth episode of the series saw Mary agreeing to wed Tom – but with marriage comes a new identity and the question remains: who will Mary become as Mrs. Hayward?

Alongside Bruccoleri and Finn, the bulk of the series’ main cast is also returning, including Ruth Jones (Gavin & Stacey) as Mrs. Bennet, Laurie Davidson (A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story) as Mr. Ryder, Tanya Reynolds (Ted Lasso) as Caroline Bingley, Varada Sethu (Doctor Who) as Ann Baxter, and Poppy Gilbert (My Oxford Year) as Lizzie Darcy.
The supporting cast returning for the holiday special includes Anna Fenton-Garvey (The Nevers) as Charlotte Collins, Maddie Close (Sunflower Child) as Jane Bingley, and Molly Wright (The A Word) as Kitty Buncock. The special will also add Nerys Amber-Stocks (Mammoth) as Mary’s housemaid, Lucy.

Series creator Sarah Quintrell wrote all three episodes, based on storylines by Hadlow, with Asim Abbasi (The Famous Five) back to direct. Quintrell and Hadlow are also executive producers, alongside Jane Tranter, Kate Crowther & Becca Kinder for Bad Wolf, Robert Schildhouse, Jon Farrar & Jess O’Riordan for BritBox, and Rebecca Ferguson for the BBC.
The Other Bennet Sister’s three-part Christmas special will air during the 2026 holiday season.
Season 1 is currently streaming on BritBox.
