‘The Crow Girl’ Season 2 Trailer Promises Justice
The trailer for Season 2 of 'The Crow Girl' is here, and justice shouldn’t be far behind.
Part of the growing trend of Nordic Noir novels turned into Tartan Noir for television, The Crow Girl may not have the name recognition of Dept. Q, but it has an all-star cast and a home on Acorn TV, where it’s done very well for itself so far. Originally part of the vast swath of British shows commissioned by Paramount+ in the U.K. with overly ambitious plans to stream them in the U.S., it was one of the few to survive the mass cancellation of that project.
Season 1’s trio of leads included longtime favorites Eve Myles, Katherine Kelly and Dougray Scott; not only was keeping the series in production the right call, but it did well enough with viewers to land a second season, largely on the strength of its cast.
Based on Erik Axl Sund’s best-selling trilogy of novels, Season 2 delves into the second novel of the Victoria Bergman Trilogy, Nukkemestari, which translates roughly to “Puppet Master.” (“Erik Axl Sund” is the nom de plume used by Swedish writing duo Håkan Axlander Sundquist and Jerker Eriksson.) With the first trailer now out, the question becomes who is pulling the strings, rather than who merely thinks they are.
Here’s the Season 2 synopsis:
Picking up the morning after the events of Season 1, Bristol Police Detective Jeanette Kilburn has ended her marriage and found herself in bed with enigmatic psychologist D. Sophia Craven. Jeanette’s hunt for the killers of young male asylum seekers takes a shocking new turn when a mummified body discovered in a church wall and a body in a freezer reveal a chilling connection. As Jeanette digs deeper, Sophia begins to suspect Victoria Burkeman, her mysterious and unstable former patient who has previously been convicted for multiple murders, could be responsible. With the case growing darker, Sophia suspects Victoria is more familiar than she thought, and Jeanette must face the terrifying truth: the killer may be closer than she ever imagined.
