‘The Rings of Power’ Season 3 Teaser Rules Them All
Simon Pegg is among the new faces joining the cast of 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Season 3.
It took almost the entirety of its first season for any rings to appear on The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, but the show has certainly kicked things into high gear since, rocketing through everything from the founding of Mordor and the siege of Eregion to the forging of the seven rings for the dwarf lords in their halls of stone. Now, it appears as though the One Ring to Rule Them All will be arriving sooner rather than later.
Sure, canonically speaking, Sauron still has a bunch of other stuff to do, including bringing about the Fall of Numenor and waging some fairly intense war against the Elves. But The Rings of Power is apparently very into the idea of multitasking, as it appears all those things may be happening at once during this forthcoming run of episodes. Five years have passed since Eregion fell, and the armies of Sauron are on the move, with few left to stand against him. But, as J.R.R. Tolkien himself tells us, even the smallest person can change the course of the future.
The blockbuster series’ Hall H panel at 2026’s San Diego Comic Con brought out several key cast members and new additions before dropping the first teaser trailer for the forthcoming season. As befitting its darker subject matter, the clip is ominous in tone and visuals, even as it shows us glimpses of several long-awaited moments, including Celeborn’s return and the first appearance of the Nazgnagôl, the Second Age proto-version of the beings that will one day be known as Ringwraiths.
Here’s the Season 3 synopsis.
Middle-earth is at war. Five years have passed since the fall of Eregion. Sauron’s armies have marched across the whole of the world, conquering all in their path. Only a few isolated pockets stand between the Dark Lord and total victory – Khazad-dûm, where the Dwarves are now sealed deep within their mountain halls, and the elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell, which are protected by their Three Rings. But deep in the land of Mordor, in his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr, the Dark Lord toils day and night, obsessed with harnessing a power that will bring the last of his enemies to their knees: One Ring to rule them all... Now, all the free peoples of Middle-earth – Dwarves, Elves, Men, and Wizards alike – must find a way to come together, in a race against time to prevent Sauron from achieving his goal of utter domination of all life…

The Rings of Power Season 3 will introduce several new faces who will be very familiar to Tolkien fans. Fresh off his turn as Stranger Things’ monstrous Vecna, Jamie Campbell Bower is set to play Celeborn, future Lord of Lothlórien and the husband of Galadriel. In Rings of Power, his character has been missing and presumed dead for the show’s first two seasons, a decision that is not at all book-accurate, but one that it seems to be in the process of course-correcting. If the teaser is anything to go by, Celeborn appears to be somehow fighting to find his way back to Galadriel, which, if nothing else, means that Season 3 will at least feature some top-notch yearning.
Other new additions include Andrew Richardson (PONIES) as Elendil’s younger son, Anarion, who will go on to co-found Gondor with his brother Isildur; Eddie Marsan (King & Conqueror) as King Durin IV’s older brother, Thrain; Adam Young (Masters of the Air) as a mysterious orc named Marnûkh; and Zubin Varla (Hostage) as Khamûl the Easterling, one of only two named members of the Nazgul, the nine immortal Black Riders who were Sauron’s most terrible servants. (The other is the Witch-King of Angmar.)
Plus, Simon Pegg (The Undeclared War) will be voicing the infamous Balrog.
Returning cast members include Charlie Vickers (Medici) as Sauron, Morfydd Clark (Murder Is Easy) as Galadriel, Robert Aramayo (Game of Thrones) as Elrond, Daniel Weyman (Gentleman Jack) as Gandalf Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Miriel, Owain Arthur (A Confession) as Durin IV, Ismael Cruz Cordova (Mary Queen of Scots) as Arondir, Lloyd Owen (Dalgliesh) as Elendil, and Benjamin Walker (Jessica Jones) as Gil-galad.
J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay return as series showrunners and writers, with Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri, and Stefan Schwartz directing. Payne, McKay, and Brändström all executive produce, alongside Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, and Kate Hazell; Matthew Penry-Davey is producer, with Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee as co-producers.
The first four episodes of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 3 will premiere on Friday, November 11, 2026, on Prime Video. The series will then drop two episodes a week for the next two Fridays, with the finale streaming on November 25.
