‘The Marlow Murder Club’ Trailer Has Eyes on New Cases
The three musketeers of crime-solving are back in the first trailer for 'The Marlow Murder Club' Season 3.
The 250th anniversary of American Independence has driven nearly all the British debuts off PBS for July, but that just means Masterpiece is pushing us to look ahead to when shows return in September and beyond. One of the best-known PBS brands, it has good reason to be highlighting its autumn debuts, as the back half of 2026 is packed with returning favorites, including the third and final Susan Ryeland mystery, Marble Hall Murders, and the out-of-the-box hit The Marlow Murder Club, the latter of which has debuted its first trailer for Season 3.
Based on Robert Thorogood’s novels, the ensemble murder mystery series has proved as popular as the murder mystery franchise that made Thorogood a major figure at the BBC: his fish-out-of-water detective series, Death in Paradise. Unlike his other hit, The Marlow Murder Club hasn’t been running long enough to spawn multiple spinoffs like the Paradise franchise, but give it time. (It’s already renewed for Season 4!)
The longer the series manages to be one of PBS’s most dependable hits, the more likely it is that someone in the cast will find themselves relocating with an entire spinoff series to call their own. I’m not saying we need an Australian version or anything as extreme as Return to Paradise. I’m just sayin, I wouldn’t hate turning on PBS in 2029 and discovering there are now three shows set within this universe.
Here’s the synopsis for Season 3:
Now an established part of newly promoted DI Tanika Malik’s crime-solving gang, retired archaeologist Judith Potts, dog walker Suzie Harris, and vicar’s wife Becks Starling are back, bringing their unconventional methods to bear on a string of high-profile murders.
From the sudden death of the town’s beloved mayor - the nicest man in Marlow - to a celebrity chef found dead at the launch of his cookbook with half the town in attendance, the team will be working under the watchful eye of the Marlow community. They’ll also be called to action at a university reunion in an eerie manor house, where, in a surprising twist, Becks finds herself amongst the suspects. Could this case threaten our amateur sleuths’ roles as civilian advisors?
