‘The Marlow Murder Club’ to Assemble for Season 4
'The Marlow Murder Club' preps to reconvene for Season 4 ahead of Season 3's premiere on PBS.
Masterpiece’s brave foray into commissioning its own series is one of the most interesting by-products of the upheaval driven by the streaming revolution. There have been some genuinely great TV series as a result – the Magpie Murders/Moonflower Murders/Marble Hall Murders trilogy comes to mind – but not every show has managed to survive the admittedly difficult process. Many of the UKTV collaborations, such as Annika and Miss Scarlet, have petered out. However, The Marlow Murder Club has become one of the yearly bright spots on the calendar, landing season renewals ahead of the show’s U.S. debut every season since it launched.
This year is no different – Season 3 won’t debut on PBS until September 2026, but Season 4 is already greenlit and heading into production this summer.
Based on Robert Thorogood’s novels, the ensemble murder mystery series has proved as popular as the murder mystery franchise that made Thorogood a major figure at the BBC, his fish-out-of-water detective series, Death in Paradise. Season 4 will continue the tradition of having one of the season’s three two-part mysteries be an adaptation of one of Thorogood’s novels, in this case, Murder on the Marlow Belle, alongside two brand new stories created specifically for television.

Returning to solve more complex and intriguing murders in Marlow are meticulous crossword-setter Judith Potts, pillar of the community and vicar’s wife Becks Starling, and no-nonsense dog walker Suzie Harris. Working tirelessly alongside DI Tanika Malik and her police team, our crime-solving trio put their unconventional methods into practice to catch the killers in three brand-new stories.
The series begins with the discovery of a body in the river, soon linked to the Marlow Amateur Dramatics Society and a homegrown Hollywood star. The team must also unravel the truth behind a man’s sudden death at his mother’s wake. He appears to have died from an allergic reaction, but is there more to it than that? And when the co-owner of a vineyard is found dead, drowned in his own wine, the women work to make sense of this seemingly unmotivated murder. Can our amateur sleuths navigate the family scandals and personal betrayals to unmask the killers in their close-knit community?
Samantha Bond (Downton Abbey), Jo Martin (Doctor Who), and Cara Horgan (Murder in Provence) once again return as titular club members Judith, Suzie, and Becks, with Natalie Dew (The Capture) as DI Tanika Malik, the friendly police officer who makes the arrests for them. Confirmed returnees for Season 4 also include Holli Dempsey (Endeavour) as DC Alice Hackett, Phill Langhorne (Mrs. Sidhu Investigates) as DS Brendan Perry, and Tijan Sarr (Shadow & Bone) as DC Jason Kennedy. Guest stars are expected to be announced in due course.
Series creator Robert Thorogood (Death in Paradise) will co-write Season 4, alongside returning writer Amy Reith (Then You Run). Director Steve Barron (The Durrells) will return to helm episodes, with Serena Cullen producing. Thorogood and Barron will executive produce with Alison Owen, Debra Hayward, Alison Carpenter, Amira El-Nemr & Jill Forbes for Monument Television, Claire Hookway for UKTV, and Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece.
The Marlow Murder Club Season 4 will begin filming in the summer of 2026. Season 3 premieres on most local PBS stations, the PBS app, and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel beginning Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET. All six episodes of Season 3 will be available for members on premiere day via PBS Passport.

Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel. As always, check your local listings.
