‘Trigger Point’ Season 4 Is Ready to Blow Sky High
'Trigger Point’s final season before the return of 'Line of Duty' hints it may be the show’s last.
Trigger Point Season 3 only recently concluded its run on BritBox in the U.S. at the end of July 2026, but across the pond, the series has been out for more than half a year, with Season 4 gearing up to follow on ITV before the end of 2026.
Part of Jed Mercurio’s thriller oeuvre, the series – which placed Line of Duty ensemble member Vicky McClure in the lead role as bomb diffusion specialist Lana Washington – has been the most successful of Mercurio’s creations from the 2020s. His company, HTM Productions, produced a slew of these thrillers, which took their cues from Line of Duty’s success, casting from the original show’s ensemble after it went on an extended hiatus post-Season 6. While Bodyguard was a Netflix-fueled hit, no second season ever arrived, and Mercurio’s other attempts (Bloodlands, DI Ray, Payback) failed to gain serious traction, leaving Trigger Point as the default heir.
The unspoken reality, however, is that Trigger Point was always a poor substitute for Line of Duty, and since the BBC announced the original show’s return, McClure’s show has basically been a stopgap, tiding fans over until 2027. The trailer seems to sense that reality too, with an angle that is as much enticing viewers to tune in to watch the series blow its final remaining characters to smithereens before we all return to where we’ve wanted to be this whole time, in the offices of AC-12.
The synopsis for Trigger Point’s fourth season is pretty bare-bones.
Lana Washington and the team will confront their greatest challenge yet as they continue their quest to keep the capital safe from explosive devices and terrorist threats.

Along with McClure, Trigger Point is currently down to only two other actors from Season 1’s original cast for Season 3: Eric Shango (Suspicion) as Danny and Nabil Elouahabi (Unforgotten) as Hassan “Hass” Rahim. The trio will be joined by the two main survivors from Season 2: Natalie Simpson (Outlander) as DSupt. Marianne Hamilton and Maanuv Thiara (Landscapers) as DI Amar Batra. The only significant addition for Season 4 is Julie Graham (This City Is Ours), who plays Commander Nia Quentin.
Chris Brandon (Bloodlands) took over as lead writer on Seasons 3 and 4 from original writer Daniel Brierley and Season 2’s Simon Ashdown. Directors Jennie Darnell (Line of Duty) and Nirpal Bhogal (D.I. Ray) split helming duties for Season 3, and Darnell also directed Season 4; the series producer remains Kristian Dench. Brandon and McClure executive produce alongside Mercurio, Daniel Walker, and Jessica Sharkey.
Trigger Point Season 4 is expected to debut on ITV before the end of 2026 and cross the pond sometime in mid-2027. Seasons 1 through 3 are streaming on BritBox.
