Everything Coming to BritBox & AcornTV in April 2026
It's our monthly rundown of everything coming to the British-focused niche streaming services like BritBox, National Theatre at Home, and AcornTV in April 2026.
It’s starting to look like 2026 may be the make-or-break year for our favorite niche streaming services here at Telly Visions. We’re only a quarter of the way through as the calendar rounds into April, but with both AMC Networks and BritBox launching major restructures for their subscription offerings, it feels like this might be the moment when we learn exactly which services will still be here in 2030.
We’ll need to give BritBox Premier a few months to determine whether creating a higher-priced service tier was the right move – not to mention that BritBox owner BBC is now well underway with its charter review in the U.K. ahead of 2027. But as it stands right now, BritBox Premier looks like it could be the first true competitor to PBS Passport – right down to the “early binge release” model that public broadcasting uses to entice members to join.
Like PBS Passport, the “early binge release” model applies only to select series and implemented so that it doesn’t rob Peter to pay Paul, as it were. Unlike other streaming services, PBS developed its own brand of “early binge release” special-offer model, where shows arrive just early enough that hardcore fans will sign up, but not so early that by the time the series airs on local stations, everyone’s already watched it. BritBox clearly took notes, because it’s doing the same thing with its first offering, Season 29 of Silent Witness, which is available for Premier subscribers to binge ahead of its mid-month release. However, since that release is only a couple of weeks away, those who can’t afford Premier (or choose not to sign up) will be able to start watching soon enough.
With that, let’s review everything coming to the dedicated niche streaming services in April 2026.

Flagship streaming service AMC+ continues with new episodes of This City is Ours streaming into April. Meanwhile, Acorn TV will continue to release new episodes of Murdoch Mysteries Season 19, Mystery Road: Origin Season 2, and the just-arrived The Feud on Shelbury Drive through the end of the month. Here are April’s new debuts:
The Brokenwood Mysteries Season 12
New Zealand-set The Brokenwood Mysteries returns for Season 12 as Acorn finally starts to position it as an ensemble series rather than just the central pair. Neill Rea as DSS Mike Shepherd and Fern Sutherland as Detective Kristin Sims are now officially billed alongside Jarod Rawiri as DC Daniel Chalmers and Cristina Ionda as Dr. Gina Kadinsky, giving the show a solid core four. Considering the surprising lack of cast turnover after a decade on the air, one assumes this is in preparation for the inevitable retirements. We love succession planning and approve highly.
The Brokenwood Mysteries Season 12 premieres on Acorn TV on Monday, April 6, 2026, with new episodes streaming weekly through mid-May.
SisterS Season 2
Meanwhile, AMC Networks is essentially admitting it’s unsure where the best place for ex-Sundance shows is, even though one would assume the answer is “Acorn TV.” However, SisterS, which originally streamed on Sundance Now and aired on the cable channel IFC, will debut across three platforms. The Irish-Canadian series about two half-sisters who discover each other’s existence later in life will still air Season 2 on the cable channel IFC, but it will now also stream on both Acorn TV and AMC+. This seems rather ineffective, splitting the audiences across multiple services, but perhaps it’s the best way to make sure everyone finds it.
SisterS Season 2 will debut simultaneously on Acorn TV, AMC+, and IFC TV on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, with new episodes through the end of May.
Attenborough: Behind the Lens
Netflix and PBS are making bigger deals about David Attenborough’s centenary, but Acorn TV will also have a special focused on the naturalist, the 2023 documentary Attenborough: Behind the Lens. The special will stream after Earth Day is over, but before Attenborough’s 100th birthday on May 8, which means it won’t have any competition when it arrives, but also means its debut falls in an awkward spot for proper marketing. Hopefully, viewers will find it anyway.
Attenborough: Behind the Lens premieres on Acorn TV on Monday, April 27, 2026.

National Theater at Home is making great strides in bringing at least one new title worth watching every month, and as long as it keeps it up, we'll keep watching.
Mrs. Warren’s Profession
Imelda Staunton and real-life daughter Bessie Carter star in the 2025 restaging of the 1893 play by George Bernard Shaw, Mrs. Warren’s Profession at the Garrick Theatre. The play finally arrives on streaming after debuting in theaters in October 2025. Carter plays Vivie Warren, an independent-minded young woman who discovers that her mother (Staunton), whom she is trying to rebel against, is actually the successful proprietress of a brothel.
The filmed staging of the stage show arrives on National Theatre at Home on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

BritBox has several series carrying over from March, with new episodes including the last of Father Brown Season 13, the Welsh dual-language Mudtown (Ar y Ffin), Hope Street Season 5, and The Lady. Here’s what’s debuting in April:
Jane Austen Archives
BritBox’s big May debut will be the arrival of The Other Bennet Sister, which has gotten rave reviews in the U.K. Ahead of the new series, BritBox is adding back several Jane Austen (and Jane Austen-adjacent) favorites for April:
- Pride & Prejudice (2005)
- Emma (1996)
- Becoming Jane (2007)
- Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)
- Austenland (2013)
All five debut Friday, April 3, 2026.
A Taste For Murder
The latest Italian-set series from the team behind Hotel Portofino, BritBox’s newest cozy crime drama, A Taste for Murder, will mix murder, family, and classic Italian cuisine. Set in Capri, the new series stars Warren Brown (Ten Pound Poms) as a British detective who relocates with his daughter to Italy after his wife's death to live with his in-laws, played by Phyllis Logan (The Puzzle Lady) and Urbano Barberini (Casino Royale). Each episode features a familiar Italian dish as part of the case of the week, so make sure to have dinner ready before watching.
A Taste For Murder premieres on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, on BritBox with two episodes, followed by weekly releases through the beginning of May.
Silent Witness Season 29
Silent Witness earned its name by quietly sneaking onto BritBox Premier as the service’s first “early binge release” without many people noticing. It’s well timed; Season 29 is yet another soft reboot for the long-running police procedural anyway, moving from a Moonlighting-style will-they-or-won’t-they to a “married detectives solve crimes” series. (The show even moves house to its new Birmingham filming locale for the occasion.) Emilia Fox and David Caves continue to star as the central couple, with new cast members Maggie Steed and Francesca Mills joining the series’ newest iteration.
All episodes of Silent Witness are already streaming for BritBox Premier subscribers. For everyone else, Season 29 will premiere on BritBox starting Thursday, April 16, 2026, with new episodes streaming on Thursdays through mid-June.
Death in Paradise Season 15
Death in Paradise has finally moved down the BritBox calendar from its previous debut slot in the dead of winter, as the entire Paradiseverse shifts to later in the calendar year. Season 15 sees the return of its newest detective, DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet), for another set of murders on the island getaway filled with sun, sand, and a plethora of guest stars.
Death in Paradise Season 15 will premiere on BritBox on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, and will follow a weekly release schedule through mid-June.
After the Flood Season 2
The 2024 hit series After the Flood returns to BritBox for Season 2. Led by Sophie Rundle (Happy Valley) as DS Jo Marshall and Lorraine Ashbourne (Bridgerton) as her mother, Molly Marshall, this is a series that takes its cues from Happy Valley, but trades out the James Norton serial killer for something far more dangerous: the slow-moving horrors of climate change. Even better, Season 2 doesn’t accidentally find itself underwater with a second thousand-year flood, instead opting for a different fresh natural horror: wildfire.
After the Flood Season 2 will debut on BritBox on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and stream through the end of May.
