'The Tower' Season 2 Gets an Exclusive BritBox Premiere

When  ITV initially announced it was commissioning a three-part feature-length episode drama based on Kate London's Metropolitan trilogy book series, it seemed the perfect marriage of author and story. London originally studied acting at Cambridge, working with the likes of Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) before hanging it up to become a police officer in 2006. She quit in 2014, using her experiences to begin the Sarah Collins mystery novels, which were as much about good people speaking up as they were about law enforcement and corruption. The series streamed on ITV in the U.K., followed closely on BritBox in the U.S.

Season 1 covered the debut novel, Post-Mortem, renamed The Tower for the tower block of flats where the crime takes place. With two more novels published, it seemed a good bet a Season 2 would follow, and BritBox would once again pick up the rights from ITV. (ITV owns a 50% stake in BritBox US and a 100% stake in BritBox UK.) Season 2 was confirmed to have been commissioned in mid-2022, with star Gemma Whelan (Killing Eve) returning as the leading g detective Sarah Collins.

However, in a surprise twist, it will be American viewers who get to see it first, with BritBox exclusively premiering the series ahead of it's U.K. partner in May 2023. The streaming service released the new trailer over the weekend, giving fans their first look at The Tower II: Death Message.
