Black Ops Season 2 snuck onto the BBC and Hulu while we were still getting our act together at the end of 2025, but don’t worry if you missed it. There’s more to come, as the BBC has officially greenlit the show for a third season.

Season 1 of Black Ops introduced Gbemisola Ikumelo as Dom and Hammed Animashaun as Kay, a pair of police community support officers working in East London. The two are recruited when MI-5 decides they need new undercover agents to take down London’s major criminal enterprises, and even though neither is particularly trained in undercover work, both want to help clean up their community, so they let themselves be talked into agreeing. That they survive is a miracle, as is their Season 1 success; Season 2 took the two of them further into the world of spycraft, pulling them from the dull administrative positions they are initially assigned into more James Bond-like escapades.

Now the duo is back for Season 3, and this time, there’s no pretense of spending their time doing data entry. Dom and Kay are officially MI-5 agents, and while they might not have a license to kill, they have definitely been given leave to keep viewers in stitches.

Here’s the Season 3 synopsis:

Chaotic but lovable duo Dom and Kay are back, and they’ve been given their first undercover mission by MI5, with Dom as leader and Kay her undercover ‘asset’. Their mission: to uncover the identities of a secretive far-right terror group via a shady museum director selling off artifacts to fund them. But a figure from Kay’s past –a past he’d rather forget –resurfaces threatening the mission and Dom and Kay’s friendship. The pair once again battle to keep the nation safe in a high-wire caper taking in billionaires, a windsurfing incident, and an impromptu trip to the Peak District.

Thus far, only Ikumelo (Roadkill) and Animashaun (The Wheel of Time) are confirmed to return for the third season as Dom and Kay. However, it seems likely that Akemnji Ndifornyen (Leonardo) will be back as Tevin, as well as Jo Martin (Doctor Who) and Robbie Gee (Supacell) as Julie and Morris. Out of the rest of the cast, only Colin Hoult (Code of Silence), who plays Pricey, has appeared in both seasons. The guest cast for Season 3 is expected to be announced in due course.

The series is created and executive produced by Ikumelo and Ndifornyen, who co-wrote all episodes with Joe Tucker and Lloyd Woolf. Ikumelo, Ndifornyen, Tucker, and Woolf executive produce alongside Josh Cole for BBC Studios.

Black Ops Season 3 will film in Manchester and the North West in the latter half of 2026 and is expected to debut on the BBC and Hulu in 2027. Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming in the U.S. on Hulu.
