‘Scrublands’ Sets Up ‘Trust’ for Season 3
'Scrublands' is officially returning for another season, and this time it’s about 'Trust.'
It’s been a little more than a year since the second season of Stan original Scrublands debuted in the U.S. on Sundance Now (and AMC+), and the Australian homegrown streaming service has finally announced that the series will return for Season 3. Australian star Luke Arnold (Black Sails) returns as Martin Scarsden, with co-star Bella Heathcote (The Man in the High Castle) as Mandy Bond, in a brand-new story that will advance the action with a decade-long time jump.
Scrublands is based on Australian author Chris Hammer’s best-selling series; Season 1 covered his debut novel; Season 2 took its cues from the follow-up, Silver. Season 3 follows the third novel, Trust, which will also be this season’s subtitle. (There are currently four books in the series; the most recent, Legacy, was released in Australia in September 2025. It is not yet available in the U.S.)
Viewers should note that Scrublands was originally contracted to stream on Sundance Now; AMC+ was the secondary service because not enough people subscribed to the former. With Sundance changing formats in early 2026, it’s unclear whether Stan will shop the series to other services, or if it will stream on AMC+. This is one of Stan’s big hits down under, and one determined to put the beauty of Australia on screen at every turn. The first season was set in the Outback; Season 2 focused on a tiny port city on the country’s western coastline (an area that rarely appears in regular Australian TV series, let alone those distributed internationally). Season 3 moves the action again, this time to Sydney and the spectacular vistas of the Blue Mountains. Considering what a sizable hit it’s become, Stan may look to find the show a new home.
Here’s the Season 3 synopsis:
Mandy Bond thought she’d dealt with her past, but an old name has come back to haunt her: Tom Molloy. The man who stole $15 million before vanishing, the fiancé she never told Martin about. His body has been found, and with it emerge secrets Mandy is desperate to keep hidden.
Meanwhile, her partner, investigative reporter Martin Scarsden, is rocked when his long-time mentor, Max Fuller, apparently commits suicide mere hours after asking Martin for help on a big story. Martin picks up where Max left off, his search leading him through the back lanes of Sydney, the homes of the rich and powerful, and headlong into a bloody shoot-out in the depths of the Blue Mountains. The closer Martin gets to answers, the more risks he’ll have to take, as killers-for-hire, corrupt developers and powerful figures stand in between him and the truth.

Unlike Season 2 (subtitled “Silver”), Arnold and Heathcote are not the only ones to reprise their roles in Season 3. The ensemble for “Trust” will also bring back Sarah Roberts (Return to Paradise) as Beth Ramachandran and Nicholas Bell (Mystery Road: Origin) as Max Fuller. Thus far, Season 3 additions include Lincoln Younes (Last King of the Cross) as Tom Molloy and Danielle Cormack (The Last Anniversary) in an as-yet-undisclosed role.
Felicity Packard, Fiona Kelly, and Jock Serong are the Season 2 writing team, with director Ben Young helming the series. Packard executive produces alongside Martha Coleman, Ian Collie, and Rob Gibson, plus Michael Healy and Andy Ryan from the 9 Network and Cailah Scobie and Alicia Brown for Stan.
Scrublands: Trust is currently filming in Australia. Scrublands and Scrublands: Silver are both streaming on AMC+.
