‘Tommy & Tuppence’ Talk Updating a Christie Classic

BritBox’s latest Agatha Christie adaptation looks a little bit different than those that have come before. The first contemporary-set adaptation of the Queen of Crime’s mysteries featuring a pair of married detectives, Agatha Christie’s Tommy and Tuppence jettisons the traditional period trappings for modern-day London and a more complicated relationship between its two protagonists.

Now former lovers who meet again by chance at the wedding of a mutual college friend, Tommy and Tuppence are drawn back together when a guest turns up dead, and their pal is charged with the crime. Neither is what you’d call a proper detective — he’s a novelist with writer’s block, she’s a struggling actress — but as they stumble backward into the world of crime solving, they discover that they might just have a talent for this whole sleuthing thing.

We had the chance to sit down with series stars Josh Dylan (The Buccaneers) and Antonia Thomas (Still Up) earlier this year at the Austin Television Festival to chat all things Tommy and Tuppence, from updating the show for a modern audience to working with Imelda Staunton.
