U.K. network Sky has released a full trailer for its serial killer thriller Sweetpea, and viewers are in for a wild ride. Based on C.J. Skuse’s popular series of novels, Sweetpea stars Ella Purnell (Belgravia) as Rhiannon Lewis, a wallflower who constantly finds herself overlooked and belittled by the world around her. But when she finally snaps (though, if we’re technical about it, her first murder was in self-defense), she finds a new sense of freedom and purpose as a serial killer.

For all that this premise sounds — and often is — a bit ridiculous, Sweetpea is a surprisingly funny and relatable exploration of isolation and female rage as Rhiannon discovers her own agency through heinous acts of violence. Are we supposed to be rooting for Rhiannon? Maybe not, but most of us probably are anyway.

Season 2 picks up where the first left off, with Rhiannon finally snagging a promotion at work, even though she did have to kill the nice boy she’d started dating when he found out the truth about her extracurricular activities. But now AJ’s mother is on the hunt for her missing son, and Rhiannon has a bunch of new problems in the form of a copycat killer who’s creeping into her alleged “holding bad people to account” murder lane. Oh, and the detective who immediately clocked something was off about her last season is still hot on her trail.

Here’s the Season 2 synopsis.

In Season 2, Rhiannon is navigating a new promotion, an irresistible rebound, and a copycat killer threatening to expose her. The kill list is mounting, and she is forced to question whether her perfect ex, AJ, was right: is she a monster?

Alongside Purnell, the returning cast for Season 2 includes Jon Pointing (Queenie), Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso), Leah Harvey (A Gentleman in Moscow), Ingrid Oliver (Doctor Who), Nitin Ganatra (Miss Scarlet), and Alexandra Dowling (The Doll Factory).

New faces include Tamsin Grieg (The Completely Made Up Adventures of Dick Turpin) as AJ’s mother; Rish Shah (Joy) as Rhiannon’s new romantic interest, Gabriel; Taj Atwal (Riot Women) as Freya, her new boss at the Carnsham Gazette; and Jenny Walser (Heartstopper) as an adoring new friend named Daisy.

Selina Lim is lead writer on Season 2, with Emme Hoy, Anna Jordan and Laura Jayne Tunbridge serving as episodic writers. Ella Jones is the series’ lead director, with Coky Giedroyc also helming installments, with Zorana Piggott producing. Purnell, Jones, Lim, and Hoy are all executive producers, alongside Kirstie Swain, Simon Gillis, and Natasha Heliotis, with Patrick Walters for Fanboy and Helen Gregory, Iain Canning, and Emile Sherman for See-Saw Films.

Sweetpea Season 2 will premiere in the U.K. on November 26, 2026, on Sky with all episodes. It will air weekly on Starz in early 2027.
