Phoebe Dynevor & Samantha Morton to Star in Thriller ‘Dirty’
Prime Video lands Phoebe Dynevor and Samantha Morton for its forthcoming crime drama, 'Dirty.'
Prime Video’s forthcoming crime drama Dirty has landed a pair of buzzy leading ladies as its stars: Bridgerton alum Phoebe Dynevor and Samantha Morton, fresh from her buzzy, film-stealing turn in Christoper Nolan’s The Odyssey.
The streamer greenlit the series earlier this year, describing it as “a fresh and provocative take on a British police drama.” Set in Manchester, the story follows trainee detective Eva Bennett, who ends up on a homicide investigation led by a fearsome chief inspector named Lois Mercer. Though a chance to learn from such an influential figure should be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a rookie, things are more complicated than they seem. Mercer is also Eva’s estranged mother, and the two women don’t exactly get along.

The series will reportedly explore themes of family loyalty, moral compromise, and the corrosive nature of power, told through an intricate cat-and-mouse game as Eva uncovers more of her mother’s crimes.
Here’s the series’ synopsis
Trainee Detective Eva Bennett returns to Manchester and joins a new homicide investigation run by her fearsome estranged mother - the legendary Detective Chief Inspector Lois Mercer. As they navigate their complicated relationship and long-buried truths resurface, Eva starts to uncover Lois’ crimes, forcing an impossible choice between justice and blood.
Alongside Dynevor and Morton, Toby Kebbell (For All Mankind) will play Ashley Rutherford, a wealthy property magnate who is Mercer’s partner in both life and crime. But apparently such influence may not be enough for him, and his ambition is trained on the city’s official corridors of power.
Binocular is producing the series in association with Amazon MGM Studios. Matt Charman (Bridge of Spies) created and wrote the series; directors are expected to be announced in due course. Foz Allen is executive producing.
Dirty is slated to go into production by the end of September 2026. It does not yet have a release date, but we don’t expect to see it until at least mid-2027.
