It’s everything British worth streaming on the major American subscription services in September 2026, from Apple TV to Tubi.
As we noted in this month’s Niche listings, a quarter century into the 21st century, September is still the default spot in the calendar for the television season to start. While we marveled at the streamers who have started participating in this ritual, even though they weren’t around for the broadcast era, the people who deserve credit for keeping the tradition alive are the ones listed here.
If it hadn’t been for Disney+, HBO Max, and Peacock believing so fully in the old model, Netflix might have won the war to sweep away televisual storytelling as we’ve known it for almost a century. Disney+ especially deserves credit for betting big on the weekly release model, and was rewarded by trouncing Netflix in the cultural conversation for a full year.
That success gave others room to follow, both in the weekly release model and in the old September-May calendar. That’s why, for September, we once again have debuts arriving on almost every mainstream streaming service/network that’s a going concern. Even Netflix has one, as its deal with Channel 4 forces it to debut The Great British Baking Show at the beginning of the TV season, and stream it weekly through the end of November, like a real TV channel ought to.
Let’s run down all the British titles coming to our shores on the major streaming services for September 2026.

Apple TV keeps its commitment to having at least one British-set show streaming year-round, with last month’s Ted Lasso running through the month and eventually streaming alongside two September arrivals.
Last Seen
Technically, Last Seen is Australian, but we usually make exceptions for Aussies and Kiwis around here. The series stars Patrick Brammall (Colin From Accounts) in the follow-up, where he plays a paranoid cop who becomes convinced he has found his long-missing daughter.
Last Seen premieres with the first two episodes on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, with weekly installments to follow.
Slow Horses Season 6
Slow Horses Season 6 is Apple’s big premiere for September, as it has been since they moved the series to become their kickoff show for the autumn half of the TV season a couple of years ago. We’re excited for this season, because Olivia Cooke is making a return, signaling that Apple’s hit officially outlasted House of the Dragon.
Slow Horses Season 6 is set to debut on Wednesday, September 16, 2025, and streams weekly.
City of Blood
We have to admit, if you’d told us in 2015, when Disney+ was first announced, that in a decade they’d have an entire foreign-language slate, I wouldn’t have believed you. But streaming is now global, and being The American Network is no longer sustainable. However, Disney is trying not to be obvious about it by binge-dumping the European commissions on Hulu and hoping people won’t notice. Such is the fate of City of Blood, adapted from Reinhard Kleist and Tobias O. Meißner’s graphic novel Berlinoir, and is set in an alternative Berlin run by immortal vampires.
All episodes of City of Blood will premiere on Disney+ (under the Hulu brand in the U.S.) on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Best Medicine Season 2
Lacy says Best Medicine is better than Doc Martin and is threatening to recap it. Honestly, do you need more than that as an endorsement? I think not.
Best Medicine Season 2 will premiere on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, on Fox and stream the next day on Tubi, with weekly episodes through November.
Youth
Poor Sharon Horgan and her adult comedy Youth are totally getting lost in HBO Max’s pathological need to promote everything Dragon or Superhero-coded. (I’m sure Laterns is great, but also his name is John Stewart.) Anyway, even if HBO didn’t warn us about the Youth, the Youth will arrive, so brace yourself.
Youth will premiere with two episodes on Sunday, September 20, 2026, with weekly installments to follow.
The Gentlemen Season 2
I know some still pine for Theo James in Sanditon, but I honestly think he’s far better as a sleezy gangster with a heart of gold when it’s convenient. Guy Richie suits him, and he is very good at being a Rich Guy in a Guy Ritchie joint. No surprise that The Gentlemen Season 2 is expected to be one of Netflix’s big hits of the year, and is already confirmed for Season 3.
The Gentlemen Season 2 debuts on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The Doll
Netflix is all about doing big-budget historical series for global audiences, like The Leopard and The Empress. The newest arrival is a Polish original, The Doll, a historical epic based on the classic novel by Bolesław Prus. Set during Russian rule in 19th-century Warsaw, it chronicles the tragic obsession and subsequent struggles of self-made merchant millionaire Stanisław Wokulski with the aristocratic Izabela Łęcka. It’s gorgeous.
The Doll will premiere on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
The Great British Baking Show Season 17
Netflix isn’t allowed to reveal its The Great British Baking Show premiere date until after Channel 4 announces the U.K. one. This is why Netflix never has the release date when we initially publish the September list, because Channel 4 never announces the date until after the beginning of the month. Come back next week.
The Great British Baking Show Season 17 will debut on Netflix on the first Friday after the Tuesday of the show’s Channel 4 season premiere.
Colin From Accounts Season 3
Honestly, half the reason Last Seen made this month’s list is that we were so glad to see Patrick Brammall escape American State Television for better streaming services. Sadly, Colin From Accounts didn’t get to go with him, and will be unceremoniously binge dumped next to seven different Yellowstone spinoffs.
All episodes of Colin From Accounts Season 3 will debut on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
Mobland Season 2
Mobland is, on the whole, dreadful. The problem is Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren are having so much fun as a pair of hardboiled old gangsters, it’s really hard to argue with it. That and Tom Hardy is always having a really crappy day because of them, and that’s hard to argue with too.
MobLand Season 2 will premiere on Friday, September 18, 2026, and stream weekly.
The Traitors: New Blood Season 1
There seems to be some confusion over whether the civvie Traitors season arriving in the U.S. is actually The Traitors Season 5 under a new subhead, or if The Traitors: New Blood should be treated as a distinct series in its own right and start with Season 1. Honestly, it probably depends on whether people watch. Personally, I would be much more inclined to watch if Peacock streamed the forthcoming season of Celebrity Traitors weekly, with episodes arriving over here within a few days of the U.K. airing, GBBO-style. Unfortunately, Peacock doesn’t seem to comprehend the idea.
That’s why they’ll be the next ones to be swallowed up by a merger.
The Traitors: New Blood will premiere on Thursday, September 17, 2026, with a two-hour episode, followed by weekly one-hour installments.
A Tale of Two Cities
Two shows are being held hostage in September by Prime Video, which is streaming on MGM+, a service nobody subscribes to, let alone watches. The first is the Kit Harington-Does-Dickens adaptation of A Tale of Two Cities, produced by the same crew he made Gunpowder with, and looks to be of the same caliber.
A Tale of Two Cities will premiere on Sunday, September 6, 2026, with weekly releases to follow through the end of the month.
American Hostage
The second is the well-named American Hostage, a show that clearly should be streaming on Apple TV, not Prime, and definitely not MGM+. Pity Jon Hamm; he deserves better.
American Hostage will debut with two episodes on Sunday, September 20, 2026, with one a week to follow.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2
Last but certainly not least, Outlander spinoff Outlander: Blood of My Blood (Outlander: BOMB) continues to double the romance with double the look-alikes, but only half the time travel. It’s not a bad deal.
