Production is Underway on 'Irish Blood' Season 2
Alicia Silverstone will be back solving crimes in Ireland sooner than you think.
Production is officially underway on the second season of Acorn TV's Irish Blood, the cozy crime drama starring former Clueless heroine Alicia Silverstone that somehow managed to become the streamer's biggest hit in its history following its debut last year. (Don't underestimate the power of Gen X nostalgia, folks!)
Silverstone plays Fiona Fox, a take-no-prisoners divorce attorney from Los Angeles who finds herself drawn to the beautiful hills of Ireland to investigate the murder of the estranged father she always believed had simply walked out on her and her mother. Joining forces with quirky local cop Róisín Doherty (Ruth Codd), she ultimately manages to find answers about who was responsible for Declan's death. But she ends up in an even more precarious position when both she and her mother are threatened by a dangerous third party just as the season concludes.
Along the way, Fiona's introduced to the charming extended family she never knew existed and even snags herself a handsome love interest. So she's still got plenty of reason to stay in Ireland. Season 2 will once again be comprised of six episodes, which will see Fiona, still reeling from the events that closed the series' first season, dig even further into the trail of clues her father left behind.
The production announcement comes as part of Acorn TV's second annual Murder Mystery May, the popular new programming event which has seen the arrival of new series like You're Killing Me, Dead and Buried, and Summerwater this year.

Here's the Season 2 synopsis.
Irish Blood season two finds Fiona still reeling from the repercussions of her estranged father Declan’s death, while extricating her mother Mary from peril at the hands of grifter Callum Deasy. As Mary, Fiona and Róisín continue to follow the breadcrumb trail of clues left in Declan’s briefcase, they are swept up in a crime-solving adventure across Ireland.

Alongside Silverstone, Codd, and Taiwo, Season 2 also stars Jason O'Mara (The Man in the High Castle), Wendy Crewson (We Were Liars), Dearbhla Molloy (Hullraisers), Simone Kirby (The Buccaneers), Leonardo Taiwo (Steal), and Stuart Graham (Say Nothing).
The series is produced by Shaftesbury and Deadpan Pictures, in association with AMC Studios and with the support of incentives for the Irish Film Industry provided by the government of Ireland, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and Ontario Creates. Executive producers include Silverstone, Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, Paul Donovan, Ailish McElmeel, Susan Coyne, Christina Ray, Aaron Martin, and Ruba Nadda, who also directs. Producers are Catherine O’Flaherty and Paige Haight.
Irish Blood Season 2 is currently filming in and around Dublin. Season 1 is currently streaming on Acorn TV.
