‘Only Murders’ Season 6 Is Mainly ‘Doctor Who’ Guest Stars
How many Doctors can fit in the Arconia? 'Only Murders' Season 6 must be bigger on the inside.
I do not know who suggested that Only Murders in the Building do a London season for the show’s sixth storyline, but I think we can all imagine series stars Martin Short and Steve Martin looking at each other and saying, “Sure, we can ask our British friends to come play!” Considering that the comic mystery series is wildly popular in the U.K. (and was far more forgiving of the Los Angeles season than most American viewers were), they must have figured there’d be no shortage of takers.
Even so, the guest star cast for the show’s first time overseas is quite something. Moreover, every time we turn around, another Doctor has parked their TARDIS outside the Arconia and wandered in.
When the Season 6 guest star roster was first announced, the Doctor Who of it all was honestly funnier than anything else, considering that Only Murders’ parent company, Disney, had just canceled the series, leaving it to be put out to tender and rebooted for a third time this century. But at this point, it almost feels deliberate, with Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi joining a roster that already included Tenth (and Fourteenth) Doctor David Tennant, Thirteenth Doctor Jodie Whittaker, and Red Nose Day Doctor Jim Broadbent.
(If there isn’t a room full of TARDISes as a site gag somewhere during the new season, I will personally riot.)
The new season will once again star Americans Martin (The Muppet Movie) as Charles-Haden Savage, Short (Schmigadoon!) as Oliver Putnam, and Selena Gomez (Emilia Pérez) as Mabel Mora, with series regulars Michael Cyril Creighton (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Howard Morris and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (The United States vs. Billie Holiday) as DI Donna Williams also returning.

Along with ex-Doctors Capaldi (Criminal Record), Tennant (Time), Whittaker (Toxic Town), and Broadbent (Bridget Jones), the guest roster will include Bridgerton stars Nicola Coughlan and Simone Ashley; PBS stalwarts Derek Jacobi (I Claudius), Lesley Nichol (Downton Abbey), Matthew Beard (Vienna Blood), Jane Horrocks (COBRA), and Martin Freeman (Sherlock); plus the legendary Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous).
Also on the roster: Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters), Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), Kathryn Hunter (Black Doves), Sean Teale (The Gold), Anjana Vasan (We Are Lady Parts), Amar Chadha-Patel (Fifteen-Love), Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper), Adrian Lukis (The Crown), Jamie Demetriou (Pride & Prejudice), and former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell-Horner.

The series hails from co-creators and writers Martin and John Hoffman and 20th Television. Season 6 executive producers include Hoffman, Martin, Short, and Gomez, as well as Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, Jennifer Crittenden & Gabrielle Allan.
Production on Only Murders in the Building Season 6 is currently underway in the U.K. and is expected to air in late 2026 or early 2027. Seasons 1 through 5 are streaming on Disney+ and Hulu in the U.S.
