‘The Great British Baking Show’ Trailer: New Faces in the Tent
Netflix has dropped the trailer and a confirmation of 'The Great British Baking Show's that we already knew.
We know most people don’t spend all day, every day with their ears to the ground, waiting for news about when and where new seasons of their favorite shows stream. That’s actually Netflix’s entire problem right now. The streaming service assumes fans are impatiently refreshing for Season 2 of this or that series returning. In reality, after a year and a half away, viewers have forgotten said show even existed, because Season 1 all arrived in a batch and no one’s talked about it since that first weekend it was out.
In that sense, Love Productions forcing Netflix to stream The Great British Baking Show as a weekly series, returning every year in the same general spot on the calendar, has created a long-running hit for the service despite itself. Moreover, between Channel 4’s marketing and Netflix’s, the show gets a decent amount of advertising, so people know to tune in.
That being said, it is endlessly funny to us how much Netflix drags its feet and does whatever it can to make it harder for viewers to keep up. The service still insists on its idiot “collections” numbering, even though literally no one uses that numbering system anymore, and hasn’t since the show exited PBS. It also consistently lags behind Channel 4 in its announcements, making today’s reveal that Season 17 will return on September 25, 2026, a good week late, since Channel 4 announced nine days ago that the series was returning the week of September 22.
But they did include a trailer, and that’s not nothing.

On your Marks, Get set… Bake! The Great British Baking Show is back with a brand-new season — a brand-new judge, and a brand-new batch of talented amateur bakers from across the UK. In the iconic white tent, they’ll take on the ultimate baking challenges — from showstopping celebration cakes to perfect pastries — all under the watchful eyes of judges Paul Hollywood and Nigella Lawson. Each week, the bakers face Signature, Technical, and Showstopper challenges designed to test their creativity, skill, and nerves. One baker will be sent home, and one will rise to become this season’s winner.
Here’s our rundown of the bakers.
This season’s hosts, Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, once again return to the tent as the first great hosting duo since Sue & Mel. Longtime judge Paul Hollywood will be joined by Nigella Lawson, his third co-judge since the series started, to set the challenges and do the tastings.
The Great British Baking Show Season 17 will debut on Channel 4 on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in the U.K., and follow on Netflix in the U.S. on Friday, September 25, 2026. The new season will stream weekly in both countries through the end of November.

In the U.S., Season 17 will be immediately followed by Prue Leith’s last hurrah in the tent for the two-episode The Great British Baking Show: Holidays Season 9. For Channel 4 viewers, the 2026 Christmas Special and the 2027 New Year’s episodes will stream on their respective holidays, and cross the pond in December 2027 as the two-episode The Great British Baking Show: Holidays Season 10.
