The New ‘Pride & Prejudice’ Trailer Is Perfection

Netflix's 'Pride & Prejudice' trailer is so good, they might actually have nailed it.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that every generation has its Pride & Prejudice. For boomers, it was the 1980 BBC adaptation; for Gen X, the 1995 serial; for Millennials, the 2005 film. Now Netflix has committed to making our first genuine 21st-century take on the Jane Austen classic, and honestly, it looks like they nailed it.

We here at Telly Visions have been very nervous about the new version, partly because Netflix’s track record with Austen is, ahem, not great. (Netflix is responsible for the worst Persuasion ever committed to film, and I will die on that hill.) Then there was the casting. Emma Corrin is an incredible actor, and we had every reason to believe they would make a good Lizzie Bennet. But Jack Lowden, best known for working-class schmuck roles in Slow Horses and The Gold, and probably the next James Bond, as Darcy? I dunno; would you cast Pierce Brosnan (or, shudder, Roger Moore) as heartthrob Fitzwilliam?

Of course, plenty of bad series and films have been disguised by well-edited trailers. But as of right now, it looks like we’ve accidentally discovered the hottest muscle-bound version of Darcy in history.

Here’s the series synopsis:

Pride and Prejudice, one of the most iconic novels of all time, comes to Netflix as an all-new 6-part limited series. The series will be a faithful, classic adaptation of the novel.
When wealthy bachelors arrive in their neighborhood, the five Bennet sisters must navigate love, family, and society’s expectations to secure their futures. Jane falls for the charming Mr Bingley, while Elizabeth clashes with his proud friend Mr Darcy – but unexpected encounters and family scandals force Elizabeth to reconsider her feelings and discover the true nature of love.

Corrin (The Crown) stars as Elizabeth Bennet, and Lowden (The Gold) as Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy. The rest of the family ensemble features Olivia Colman (The Favourite) as Mrs. Bennet, Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat) as Mr. Bennet, Freya Mavor (Marie Antoinette) as Jane Bennet, Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper) as Lydia Bennet, with newcomers Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery as Mary and Lydia Bennet, respectively.

The rest of the main cast includes Daryl McCormack (The Woman in the Wall) as Mr. Bingley, Siena Kelly (Domino Day) as Caroline Bingley, Jamie Demetriou (Barbie) as Mr. Collins, Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes) as Mr. Wickham, and Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve) as Lady Catherine de Bourgh.

The supporting cast includes Rosie Cavaliero (Bookish) as Lady Lucas, Anjana Vasan (We Are Lady Parts) and Sebastian Armesto (Gangs of London) as Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner, plus Saffron Coomber (Three Little Birds) and James Dryden (Time Bandits) as Mr. and Mrs. Hurst. Justin Edwards (The Franchise) plays Sir William Lucas; James Northcote (The Last Kingdom) is Colonel Forster; Eloise Webb (Sanditon) is Harriet Forster; and Isabella Sermon (Jurassic World) plays Georgiana Darcy.

Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love) penned all episodes, with Euros Lyn (Heartstopper) directing and Lisa Osborne producing. Lyn and Corrin executive produce alongside Laura Lankester, Will Johnston & Louise Mutter for Lookout Point.

The new Pride and Prejudice series will arrive on Netflix with all episodes on Thursday, December 3, 2026.

The Other Bennet Sister
The Other Bennet Sister follows overlooked Mary Bennet as she journeys from Meryton to Regency London and beyond, in search of love, independence, and the self-worth she’s long been denied.

Netflix’s terrible version of Persuasion is technically available to stream. However, we highly recommend skipping it and checking out The Other Bennet Sister on BritBox instead, which will also air new episodes in December 2026 with a three-part Christmas special.
