Our monthly rundown of everything British coming to PBS and PBS Passport for October 2026.
The TV season rolls into full swing as the temperatures finally start to fall and autumn officially arrives. Not long ago, October marked the start of the new Masterpiece season, with Poldark seasons debuting the first weekend of the month. But that was before streaming fully cemented itself, and PBS began making a point of having a full Sunday lineup from Labor Day to American Thanksgiving.
Nowadays, October is usually when the second set of British shows arrive in the autumn schedule. In 2025, that second set of triple premieres, Brian & Maggie, Maigret, and The Gold, managed to get their opening episodes up before the CPB funding ceased and Telly Visions was forced into hiatus. One year later, both Maigret and The Gold are preparing to return for Season 2 mid-month; the first half of the month will continue with the final episodes of The Marlow Murder Club Season 3, Marble Hall Murders, and Trespasses.
Meanwhile, October is also stacked with the usual array of Walter Presents debuts on Fridays, another season of an Acorn TV fan favorite hitting PBS Passport for members to enjoy, and a reality show gem that not nearly enough PBS local stations have picked up yet.

Deadwater Fell
Deadwater Fell is an older show that arrived during the early months of the pandemic that’s been trapped on Acorn TV for so long we’d completely forgotten about it. Written and created by Grantchester’s Daisy Coulam, the four-part series stars David Tennant and Cush Jumbo in a mystery where a doctor’s wife and three young children are murdered in a fire.

Game of Wool Season 1
PBS has desperately needed a replacement series for The Great British Baking Show since it moved house to Netflix. There have been a few in-house attempts (The Great American Recipe, for example) and a few BBC shows brought over to try and recreate the magic (Flour Power was one of them). But the first real contender just showed up on WETA+, and will hopefully extend to other PBS Passports with Game of Wool, a Britain’s Best Knitter competition which has all the comforts of GBBO and none of the crumbs.

No Time for Goodbye (Cette Nuit-Là)
Walter Presents’ first title for October 2026 is the four-part Franco-Belgian miniseries No Time for Goodbye (Cette Nuit-Là, translated literally, That Night). The series, a psychological thriller, adapted from the novel by Linwood Barclay, originally aired on Belgium’s La Une in 2024. Barbara Probst (The War Between the Land & the Sea) stars as Sofia Legrand, whose parents and brother disappear the night after a family argument and are never seen again. Two decades later, she writes a book about it, reopening the unsolved case and unearthing the truth.

Kraken (Kraken: El Libro Negro de las Horas)
Walter Presents actually has two premieres the first weekend of October. The second is the six-part Spanish series Kraken (Kraken: El Libro Negro de las Horas, translated literally, Kraken: The Black Book of Hours). Based on the novel by Eva García Sáenz de Urturi, Alejo Sauras stars as former detective Unai López de Ayala, the titular Kraken, who is pulled back in to find the legendary Black Book of Hours when his mother’s life is threatened.
All six episodes of Kraken will debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, October 2, 2026.
One Step From Heaven (Un Passo dal Cielo) Season 6
Walter Presents’ One Step From Heaven (Un Passo dal Cielo) Season 6 is, once again, not actually Season 6. Since the show reached Season 3 (when it expanded to 18-19 installments), PBS has diverged from the original numbering and continued to release ten installments at a time. The eight-episode “Season 5,” which premiered in April 2026, was the first half of Season 4, when original lead Terence Hill was replaced by Daniele Liotti. PBS now debuts the other ten episodes of Season 4 as “Season 6.” The series is now rounding into Season 9, so if it keeps splitting seasons in half like this, there’s plenty more to go.
All ten episodes of One Step From Heaven Season 6 will debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, October 9, 2026.
The Intern (La Stagiaire) Season 6
It’s been just over six months since we last saw an installment of the popular French series The Intern (La Stagiaire); Season 5 debuted in February 2026, and now Season 6 arrives in October. Michèle Bernier returns as Constance Meyer, the former village mayor who rebuilt her life as a lawyer after a wrongful conviction, and wound up as a 40-something-year-old law school intern. Season 11 is currently airing on France 3 as we type, so there’s much more to come.
All eight episodes of The Intern Season 6 will debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, October 16, 2026.
Professor T Season 5
PBS continues to air new seasons of Professor T before its U.K. counterpart, with Season 5 arriving as an early binge release in August 2026, just as Season 4 finally started airing on ITV across the pond. It’s therefore not that surprising the synopsis doesn’t give much away, other than six new cases featuring some unexpected new relationships and “more complex crimes for the Professor and police unit to tackle.” For those who do not subscribe to PBS Passport, the show will air in the 8 p.m. slot starting in mid-October, kicking off the second half of the Autumn Sunday lineup.
Professor T Season 5 will air and stream weekly on Sunday, October 18, 2026, on most PBS stations, the PBS app, and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel. All episodes are currently available to stream as an early release binge on PBS Passport.
Maigret Season 2
Like several of Masterpiece’s hits of the past decade, Maigret is a contemporary-set remake of an older series that ran on PBS in the 1980s and ’90s. Though we only got a taste of it before we shuttered in 2025, series star Benjamin Wainwright is a PBS favorite, and we are happy to return to the beautiful Jersey countryside for three more two-part cases to solve.
Maigret Season 2 will premiere on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET on most local PBS stations, the PBS app, and the PBS Masterpiece Channel. All episodes will be available to binge on PBS Passport for members on premiere day.
The Gold Season 2
The irony of Telly Visions being shut down after recapping only one episode of The Gold Season 1 didn’t escape us, since we covered just one episode when the series originally debuted on Paramount+ in 2023. Luckily, we’re back in time to recap all episodes of Season 2, which never aired in the States after Paramount dumped the show for low ratings. Hugh Bonneville, Charlotte Spencer, and Emun Elliot return to track down the other half of the £26 million in gold bars stolen during the famous Brink’s-Mat robbery.
The Gold Season 2 premieres Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 10 p.m. ET on most local PBS stations, the PBS app, and the PBS Masterpiece Channel. All episodes will be available to binge on PBS Passport for members on premiere day.
Classified (Classé Secret) Season 2
One of the Walter Presents last shows to air before Telly Visions was shuttered, Classified (Classé Secret) Season 1 initially debuted at the end of September 2025. A spin on the “married spies” trope, Rachel and Émile are two Canadian Security Intelligence Service agents living a peaceful life with their two daughters, whose world crumbles when a shooting takes place near the American embassy, and each suspects the other of being the inside man. Unfortunately, no Season 3 was ever commissioned, so this will mark the series' conclusion.
All ten episodes of Classified Season 2 will debut on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Prime Video Channel on Friday, October 23, 2026.
Belcanto
Walter Presents’ final debut for October 2026 is Belcanto, a 19th-century set Italian drama that initially aired on RAI in early 2025. Vittoria Puccini (Anna Karenina) stars as Maria Cuoio, who escapes to Milan with her daughters after murdering her abusive husband. The older daughter, Antonia, tries to follow her mother’s dream and become an opera singer, but the younger, Carolina, turns out to have the talent, setting up a sibling rivalry made for the stage.
