Tamara Lawrance Joins 'Gangs of London' Season 4
Gangs of London has gone into production for Season 4, with 'Time's Tamara Lawrance joining the cast.
Not every U.K. hit show that crosses the pond becomes an automatic success in America. For every Downton Abbey, there's a Mr Bates vs the Post Office; for every Adolescence, there's an A Thousand Blows. However, there are a few shows whose inability to make an impact in the U.S. is directly tied to being on an underwatched streaming service. Rogue Heroes (on MGM+), The Gold (originally on Paramount+), and Gangs of London (on AMC+) are probably the three that stand out the most. All three were massive successes in the U.K. upon debut and critical darlings, but made zero impact upon arrival in the States.
At least with The Gold, the BBC quickly decoupled from Paramount and moved the entire series, bag and baggage, to PBS, where it belonged. (Season 2 is expected to debut later in 2026.) One assumes Rogue Heroes stays on MGM+ because everyone assumes it will eventually be folded into Prime, a service people actually subscribe to. But AMC+ seems to believe that if it just stays the course with Gangs of London, one day everyone will find it.
Considering the amount of turnover the Sky-produced series is undergoing ahead of Season 4, AMC might be right to keep holding out hope. The series has undergone significant cast turnover almost every season as characters are offed, and Season 3's finale took out two of the biggest stars, Joe Cole's Sean Wallace and Lucian Msamati's Ed Dumani. But those aren't the only changes heading into Season 4. The series is also turning over the people behind the camera, with new lead writers and directors boarding the series, along with multiple new high-profile casting additions.

The biggest name joining the new season is undoubtedly Tamara Lawrance (Time) as Jo Malik. Lawrance isn't just known for her stellar performance alongside Jodie Whittaker and Melika Foroutan in the second season of the anthology series. She's also headlined The Long Song on PBS and Get Millie Black on HBO.
Also signing on for the new season is Melika Foroutan (The Empress) as Zerin. The German-Iranian actor is best known in the States for the Netflix period drama about Elisabeth of Austria. Rounding out the new additions are two Japanese actors, the up-and-coming Luna Fujimoto (Tokyo Novel) as Hanaka and the more established Eugene Nomura (House of the Owl) as Takeshi Kimura, making this the most global season yet.

Here's the Season 4 synopsis:
As the looming threat of legalization and government crackdowns tightens its grip on London’s criminal underworld, the gangs are forced into an increasingly volatile fight for survival. Exiled from London, Elliot Carter is on a bloodied path to redemption that draws him back to the capital, where shifting alliances and rising tensions threaten to upend the balance of power. When Zeek Kimura reemerges, backed by a ruthless syndicate from abroad, the stakes escalate and the future of everyone involved, from the Wallaces to Luan, Lale, and Elliot himself, is thrown into question.

Series stalwarts Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù (Mr. Malcolm's List), Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones), Brian Vernel (The Last Kingdom), Pippa Bennett-Warner (Moonflower Murders), and Narges Rashidi (Havoc) are all that remains of the original sprawling lead ensemble from the show's first season. They'll be joined by supporting cast Orli Shuka (We Were the Lucky Ones), Season 3 additions Andrew Koji (Black Doves) and T’Nia Miller (The Diplomat), plus Valene Kane (Blue Lights), who returns to the series after sitting out Season 3.
Season 4 brings Jack Lothian (Doc Martin) in as the show's new lead writer, with a writer's room that includes Kevin Rundle, Jerome Bucchan-Nelson, Meg Salter, and Abi Hynes. Jean Luc Herbulot (who helmed Get Millie Black) joins as lead director with Lynsey Miller (Surface) and Eran Creevy (The Gentlemen) also helming installments, with James Levison producing and Saba Kia associate producing. Dìrísù is executive producer alongside Thomas Benski & Jamie Hall, Hugh Warren & Claire Marshall for VICE Studios, and Adrian Sturges for Sky. The award-winning series was created by Gareth Evans & Matt Flannery, who are also executive producers.
Gangs of London Season 4 is currently filming in the U.K. It is expected to arrive sometime during the 2026-2027 television season.
