‘Mobland’ Preps an Uncivil Season 2 Return

Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren are having an absolute blast in the 'Mobland' Season 2 trailer.

Mobland wound up being one of Paramount+’s biggest hits to date, despite the deeply incompetent rollout by the people who were running the network before it was bought out by Skydance and turned into State Television. That’s good news for Season 2; no matter how badly Paramount fumbles its return, chances are audiences will simply override it.

The series continues to be a complete mess behind the scenes. With Season 2 in the can, the production turned toward gaining a Season 3 greenlight, only to have pre-production derailed by star Tom Hardy, who was reportedly very displeased that the show he’d been sold as a vehicle for his career basically became “Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren Do A Guy Ritchie Show” due to Paramount’s marketing incompetence.

It’s unclear if the production actually fired him or if this was all contract-standoff posturing, but it was enough that Mirren came out and did some PR cleanup. In the end, Hardy was mollified (or given enough money) to return. Season 3 is not yet officially greenlit, but it is generally understood the show will return for at least one more season with the entire starring lineup intact.

All that aside, the rollout for Season 2 is already going better than Season 1. We have a plethora of first images, a full trailer, and a plot synopsis, all a full eight weeks before the show is set to return. Even better, the trailer continues to understand what audiences want – “Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren Do A Guy Ritchie Show.” Those two are having such a blast with this; even I want to watch.

Here’s the Season 2 synopsis:

The second season will see the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire – and Harry Da Souza, their street-smart and formidable ‘fixer’, must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions within the family intensify. As violence spills into every corner of their lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.

Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) and Helen Mirren (The Queen) star as the unscrupulous heads of the Harrigan family, Conrad and Maeve, with Tom Hardy (Peaky Blinders) as loyal fixer Harry da Souza and Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey) as his estranged wife, Jan. Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon) co-stars as Harrigan heir, Kevin; Lara Pulver (Sherlock) is Kevin’s wife, Bella; and Anson Boon (Pistol) is their son, Eddie.

Supporting cast returnees for Season 2 include Toby Jones (Mr Bates vs the Post Office), Janet McTeer (The White Queen), Emmett J. Scanlan (A Woman of Substance), Mandeep Dhillon (The Good Karma Hospital) and Jasmine Jobson (Top Boy). Season 2 adds Johnny Flynn (Emma), Ophelia Lovibond (This England), and Teddie Allen (Malice) to the roster.

Jez Butterworth (The Agency) penned all Season 2 episodes alongside Ronan Bennett (Day of the Jackal), with Ritchie directing episodes. All three continue to serve as executive producers alongside Hardy; the rest of the executive team includes Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, David C. Glasser, Kris Thykier, Ivan Atkinson, Dean Baker, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari.

MobLand Season 2 will premiere on Paramount+ on Friday, September 18, 2026, and stream weekly through the end of November. Season 3 is already greenlit.
