‘Such Brave Girls’ Keeps Getting Braver with Season 3

The BBC once again braves the waters of returning to 'Such Brave Girls' with Season 3.

Rejoice, oh my heroically well-adjusted friends, the BBC has announced that Such Brave Girls – the Kat Sadler series that puts the fun in family dysfunction – is officially on for Season 3. BBC Director of Comedy, Jon Petrie, announced at the 5th Annual BBC Comedy Festival in Liverpool, along with a slew of renewals and a few new commissions.

A dark comedy about a family that could not get their act together for love or money (though they’d try hard if the latter were involved), Such Brave Girls was a high-flying risk the BBC undertook in 2023. Sadler – who penned all episodes of the first two seasons and stars in the series – was, at the time, an untested talent, best known as part of Mel Giedroyc’s sketch-comedy writing team. Her co-star, Lizzie Davidson, is actually Sadler’s real-life sister – an actress who had only landed minor and walk-on roles prior to the show’s premiere. Of the show’s main roster, only Louise Brealey (who plays their mum) and Paul Bazely (who plays a sad sort of step-dad-substitute) were the most well-known names.

The BBC backed the right horse. Such Brave Girls was a smash hit in the U.K. when it debuted in November 2023, and – despite being dumped as a binge by Hulu – gained a decent-sized following as a cult hit in the U.S. Somehow, Season 2, which arrived in 2025, improved upon the formula, a rare feat for a sophomore series from a new writer. Now the BBC is preparing Season 3, likely to arrive in 2027.

In the press release, Sadler stated:

“An honor and a shock that the BBC would willingly let us rancid little worms back into the building. I promise I will make them regret this decision.”

The current synopsis is the opposite of helping, but that’s to be expected.

Multi-award-winning hit comedy Such Brave Girls is back for a third series and pinky-promises to be genuinely uplifting. Josie, her sister Billie, and their mother Deb are finally happy. They didn’t need men, and the magic was in them all along. Pass the tissues! Just kidding, things are set to get worse for the family at the heart of the BBC’s feel-bad sitcom.

Sadler will once again return for Season 3 as Josie, with Davidson (Mitchell & Webb Are Not Helping) as Josie’s sister, Billie, and Brealey (Sherlock) as their mother, Deb.

Season 3 has not confirmed the return of Bazely (Miss Scarlet) as Deb’s boyfriend (whom she can barely stand), Dev; Freddie Meredith (Big Boys) as Josie’s overly clingy boyfriend, Seb; or Jude Mack (Prime Target) as Josie’s actual love interest, Sid. The supporting cast is expected to be announced closer to the start of filming.

Sadler will once again pen all episodes, and director Simon Bird helms all six installments of the third season. Catherine Gosling Fuller once again produces. Sadler executive produces with Jack Bayles and Phil Clarke in association with A24.

Seasons 1 and 2 of Such Brave Girls are streaming on Hulu and Disney+ under the Hulu banner. Season 3 is expected to film in the latter half of 2026 and debut on both sides of the pond sometime in 2027.
