Outlander is dead, long live Outlander: Blood of My Blood. It’s barely been a fortnight since we posted our final recap for the series finale of Outlander, but Starz is not letting the ghosts of Jamie and Claire sleep long. With June 1 marking the fandom-created celebration World Outlander Day, Starz is taking the opportunity to debut a new trailer and the premiere date for Season 2 of the show’s prequel series, Blood of My Blood.

Starz celebrating World Outlander Day with new tidbits about the series for fans is nothing new – the network has been on the fandom train since its first season in that regard. However, for once, the date isn’t as inconvenient as it has been in the past. There have been times when the June 1 announcement revealed a release date that was six months away... or worse, a full year. However, with Starz now divested of its Lionsgate partnership, the network is a little freer to make the schedule work the way it would prefer.

Moreover, it’s clearly trying to make the disparate halves of its viewership work in tandem. As we’ve noted elsewhere, Starz has figured out that there’s no streaming service dedicated to serving Black American viewers and has been rectifying that via its Power Book series and others. July 2026 will bring its first Black British series, Fightland, which will air and stream episodes through mid-September; Outlander: Blood of my Blood Season 2 will then follow, picking up on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Here’s the new season’s synopsis:

After an unexpected journey back in time, Henry and Julia Beauchamp were left lost and separated in the sweeping highlands of 18th-century Scotland. Season 2 picks up right where the finale left off, with a distraught Julia alone with their baby. Separated from his love and hope, Henry must grapple with his mental health as he fights to find his way back to her. Meanwhile, the forbidden relationship between Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie seemed to conquer all odds, but their romantic escape was cut short as fiery crosses were lit and the 1715 Jacobite Rising began, thrusting the clans into war. In Season 1, they chose each other over their families, but now they must prioritize their clan loyalties, as Brian fulfills his obligation to fight and Ellen seeks to make things right with her family. The two young couples will be tested and separated once again by forces beyond their control, as every clan chooses a side in the rebellion.
