‘Enola Holmes 3’ Is Solving for Her Happy Ending
The teaser for 'Enola Holmes' final outing sees the young detective solving her way to the altar.
As one Sherlock Holmes offshoot takes flight, another comes to an end. Amazon seems to have an accidental hit on its hands with Young Sherlock, which seems to have managed to reach its intended audience by sheer dint of Guy Ritchie having his name attached as director. Despite Amazon doing the show zero favors (dumping all episodes at once, with little marketing), the series is greenlit for Season 2 and more adventures of Holmes as a university student.
Young Sherlock’s renewal is right on time, as our previous “Sherlock for those aged 8-25” favorite is drawing to a close; Netflix’s long-running Enola Holmes franchise has dropped the trailer for its third and final installment. That it made it to a full trilogy is something of a miracle, considering it started life as a Warner Bros. Pictures film dumped to streaming during the depths of the pandemic.
But Netflix’s relentless algorithm, plus a cast featuring some of the actors from its most popular franchises at the time, turned the first film into a hit. Moreover, it proved that star Millie Bobby Brown was a force to be reckoned with behind the camera as well as in front of it. She was the one who championed the project, buying up the rights to the tween-focused books; it was her company that helped produce it, and as the third and final film heads our way, it is clear she’s left her mark on it.
Here’s the film’s logline:
Adventure chases detective Enola Holmes to Malta, where personal and professional dreams collide on a case more tangled and treacherous than any she has faced before.
