UKTV's 'Hit Point' Looks Like a Rollicking Good Time
UKTV's newest police drama, 'Hit Point,' might not have a streaming home in the U.S., but we're willing to bet that will change.
Most Anglophile Americans probably weren't aware of UKTV prior to 2019, even though the network has been chugging along since the early 1990s. Initially jointly owned by the BBC and Thames Television, the BBC's commercial arm, BBC Studios (formerly BBC Worldwide), bought out its partner at the end of the 2010s. Since then, it has launched a concerted effort to make programming that can be sold to overseas broadcasters. Ironically, most of its shows wound up on PBS (Miss Scarlet, Annika, The Marlow Murder Club, Bookish, Bergerac).
Since establishing itself as a hitmaker, its shows have started turning up everywhere, from BritBox (Outrageous, I Jack Wright, Traces) to AMC/Acorn (Ragdoll, The Red King, Whitstable Pearl), and even Showtime (We Hunt Together).
What's remarkable about the UKTV project is just how good it is at securing overseas distribution for its series. Currently, if UKTV makes a show, it's almost guaranteed to find a home in the U.S., most likely on a streaming service whose audience fits its brand. That's why we're keeping an eye on the latest series, Hit Point, despite the lack of an American distributor. The series has already been picked up globally by Canal+, with plans to distribute across Asia, Europe, and South America. One look at the trailer and cast, and it seems almost unimaginable that this won't get nabbed by BritBox or Acorn – or even Hulu.
Here's the show's synopsis:
Hit Point is an adrenaline-charged blend of high-stakes crime thriller and sizzling romantic drama, following thirty-something detectives Leo and Bella as their latest case pulls them into a dangerous West London underworld.
On the hunt for answers, the lines between their personal and professional lives blur with every twist and betrayal. Packed with razor-sharp humor and heart-stopping action, Hit Point is a gripping, fast-paced series where loyalty is tested, secrets explode, and love might just be the most dangerous game of all.

Nick Blood (Twenty Twenty Six) stars as Leo with Saffron Hocking (Top Boy) as Bella, alongside PBS favorite Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey). The rest of the cast includes Peter Serafinowicz (The Gentlemen), Nadia Parkes (The Spanish Princess), Moe Bar-El (Criminal Record), Ossian Perret (The Last Kingdom), Joshua Sher (The Undeclared War), and William Abadie (Emily in Paris).
The series was conceived and written by Howard Overman (Misfits), with director David Caffrey (Peaky Blinders) helming all installments. Overman also executive produces with Johnny Capps & Julian Murphy for Urban Myth Films and Helen Perry for UKTV.
Hit Point will debut in the U.K. on U&Dave in the summer of 2026 and on Canal+ in Europe. The show does not yet have an American distributor, but I will personally be gobsmacked if that isn't rectified in the coming months.
