‘Sweetpea’ Season 2 Sees Rhiannon Embracing Her Truth
'Sweatpea' preps for Season 2 with a trailer that shows Rhiannon reaching self-acceptance.
Starz and Sky have released our first look at the second season of Sweetpea, the darkly comic serial killer drama based on C.J. Skuse’s popular series of novels. Bitingly funny and shockingly bloody, the show is part murderous romp and part surprisingly deft exploration of female rage, loneliness, and isolation.
Yellowjackets breakout (and subsequent Fallout star) Ella Purnell stars as Rhiannon Lewis, a repressed wallflower turned accidental, then very intentional murderer who finally had enough of the world ignoring and belittling her.
Season 2 picks up after the deadly events of the first season finale, which saw Rhiannon get a promotion at the local newspaper where she works... and kill the nice guy she’d finally started dating when he figured out her secret.
(Sigh. Romance really is dead, y’all.)
But as her body count (of the very literal kind) keeps rising, Rhiannon will have ot scramble to keep her secret life, well...secret, keep the dogged investigator who hasn’t believed any of her lies off her trail, and deal with a copycat killer whose crimes could easily expose her own.
Here’s the Season 2 synopsis.
Killer wallflower Rhiannon Lewis is back in Season 2 of the iconically brazen and darkly comic thriller. Navigating a new promotion, an irresistible rebound, Marina still hot on her trail, her sister selling her family home and a copycat killer threatening to expose her, the kill list is mounting. But now that she's harnessed her rage and found her power, Rhiannon is forced to question whether her perfect ex AJ, was right: is she a monster?
Alongside Purnell, the returning cast for Season 2 includes Jon Pointing (Queenie), Jeremy Swift (Ted Lasso), Leah Harvey (A Gentleman in Moscow), Ingrid Oliver (Doctor Who), Nitin Ganatra (Miss Scarlet), and Alexandra Dowling (The Doll Factory).
