‘Alice & Steve’ Will Be Back For Season 2
Hulu's messiest relationship "comedy" will return for another round.
It’s official: Disney and Hulu are bringing the offbeat comedy Alice and Steve back for Season 2.
The show’s first installment arrived with little fanfare on Hulu, a sad fate that has befallen many a quirky British series that’s far too good for the few marketing dollars it gets. (See also: Such Brave Girls, Extraordinary, and Dinosaur.) But perhaps with a second season on the way, that can finally change.
The series follows titular duo Alice (Nicola Walker) and Steve (Jemaine Clement), a pair of lifelong besties whose friendship is thrown into turmoil when he starts dating her 26-year-old daughter, Izzy (Yali Topol Margalith). A whole lot about this situation is obviously red-flag city, so, understandably, Alice doesn’t take the news of their relationship well. Convinced she’s about to lose her daughter and her best friend forever, she begins an increasingly unhinged campaign to break the two of them up. (That honestly only makes her look crazy.) But despite her best (worst) efforts, Steve refuses to back down, and their ex-best friendship devolves into an out-and-out feud.
The first season ended on a fairly fiery cliffhanger (literally), with Alice and Steve trapped in the venue where he planned to marry Izzy as a blaze breaks out. Their fate isn’t resolved before the finale ends, so Season 2 will have a fairly big problem to solve right out of the gate.
Alongside Walker, Clement and Margalith, the series also stars Joel Fry (Our Flag Means Death), Tyrese Eaton-Dyce (Sherwood), Marcia Warren (The Crown), Eilidh Fisher (Dope Girls), and Ebony Aboagye (Mood).
“I am so thrilled that Alice and Steve has been given a second season,” creator Sophie Goodhart said in a statement. “No one will be prepared for what happens next, especially not Alice and Steve.”
Goodhart wrote the series and will pen all episodes of Season 2. She also executive produces alongside Petra Fried, Sophie Gardiner, Wim de Greef, and Rachael Stephenson for Clerkenwell Films.
Alice and Steve Season 2 is expected to film in late 2026 or early 2027; it doesn’t have a premiere date yet. Season 1 is currently streaming on Hulu.
